Biography for Scott Gallagher

Scott Gallagher has become a master at overcoming self-defeating habits in his personal and professional life, and helping others to do the same.

A powerful speaker and trainer, whose raw, open and honest style inspires belief, Scott is the creator of Break Through, Break Free. This program for companies and organizations focuses on helping employees and managers to reduce and eliminate their own unwanted habits - such as time-wasting, procrastination, gossiping, blaming, lying, negative thinking or abuse - which cost companies millions annually in lost time and productivity. The program delivers improved morale, personal accountability, team spirit, productivity and attendance.

Challenged by destructive habits and addictions for close to 20 years, Scott has been pioneering new methods for understanding the root causes and becoming free of unwanted habits and addictions for the past eight years. He has coached hundreds of people one-on-one, and taught "Habit Mastery" programs to over 100,000 students and educators in schools across North America.

Scott Gallagher is the author of Break Through, Break Free: A Journey to Overcome Unwanted Habits, Beliefs and Addictions. He is also a marathon runner who completed 14 marathons during a 12 month period, as a way of challenging his own physical limits and the power of his beliefs to overcome adversity.

Over the past eight years, Scott has also been the founder of the global non-profit organization, All Addictions Anonymous; the creator of the Power of Choice school program; and the founder of Addiction Free Youth, a charitable organization which assists youth and their families in preventing, reducing and stopping unwanted habits.

Additional Background

A corporate recruiter for over 20 years, Scott owned his own executive search firm and worked with mid-and-senior level executives to find new positions. In this work, he focused on bringing forth the deepest motivations & aspirations of his clients; encouraged companies to hire people "greater than themselves;" and developed innovative ways of marketing and communicating the interests of both.

During his entire career, Scott also faced and overcame a multitude of "bad" habits and addictions. At different times, he drank up to 20-25 cups of coffee and smoked 3-4 packs of cigarettes daily. He was "addicted" to work, money, sex, food, sugar, television, internet use, gossiping, blaming, complaining, giving unwanted advice, dominating and controlling others, and to using marijuana, alcohol, and other drugs.

And throughout it all, he was taking all the seminars, from Dale Carnegie, Stephen Covey, Zig Ziglar, Tony Robbins, Richard Bandler and countless others. He went through hundreds of self-esteem and personal development programs. All these programs made a positive impact on his life and business, but the benefits would not last. Ultimately, Scott learned that in order to create lasting change, he had to alter his core beliefs and thoughts about himself and the world around him.
